“Buffalo Soldiers: Fighting on Two Fronts”
Last month, on February 17, 2003, Path With Art hosted a screening of the film, “Buffalo Soldiers: Fighting on Two Fronts” at the SIFF Film Center. There was a full house for the one-hour-long film, followed by a robust Q&A with the filmmaker Dru Holly, and three representatives from the Buffalo Soldiers of Seattle.
After watching this thought-provoking documentary, I had a far greater understanding of this part of American history. Several topics covered in this film shed light on historical events and inspired me to reflect and learn more. It is important for to me to listen and try to understand the perspective of others. As a military spouse myself, I am very drawn to the stories of others married to service members. I was inspired to draw a picture of, “The Cisco Kid,” the female panelist representing the Buffalo Soldiers of Seattle. I am honored to have been part of organizing this event and hope to participate in more opportunities like this one in the future. Thank you to everyone who participated.
